Residents, families and staff at The Manor House came together on Friday for a meaningful combined event, marking Time for a Cuppa in support of Dementia UK while also taking time to acknowledge VE Day.
The morning began with dementia awareness training for staff and families, helping to build understanding and encourage conversation around dementia. Photographs from the event show residents and carers seated around tables filled with cakes, bunting and balloons while watching a presentation about Dementia UK. The welcoming set-up created a relaxed atmosphere for learning, reflection and support.
As the day continued, the mood became more lively with music, dancing and singing. One image captures residents dancing while a musician plays the keyboard, while others show residents enjoying the entertainment and even kicking a balloon around together. These shared moments brought plenty of enjoyment and encouraged everyone to join in at their own pace.
In the afternoon, with the sun shining, residents spent time in the garden looking through 1940s memorabilia, including replica magazines, a ration book, a cookery book and other items linked to the wartime period. This sparked lots of conversation and memories, with one photograph showing residents gathered around a table outdoors, engaged in looking through the items together.
By combining fundraising, awareness, music and reminiscence, the day offered something for everyone. The Manor House has thanked all those who attended and took part in making the occasion so warm, thoughtful and enjoyable.
