Residents at The Manor House enjoyed a very special visit this week from Bill the Owl, a gentle therapy Tawny owl who brought plenty of smiles, curiosity and conversation with him.
For many residents, it was a rare opportunity to see such a beautiful bird up close and to spend time interacting with him. The visit created a calm but engaging atmosphere, with residents clearly enjoying the chance to learn more about Bill and experience something a little different within the home.
The photographs capture some lovely moments from the session. Ken was seated while Bill was shown to him by the handler, while David stood beside the owl and smiled for the camera. Murphy was pictured laughing in bed as Bill was brought over to visit, and both Ivor and Muriel were able to gently stroke Bill’s chest. Another image shows Angie smiling while seated next to him.
Animal visits like this can have a wonderfully positive effect on wellbeing. They often spark memories, encourage conversation and offer meaningful one-to-one moments of connection. The laughter and interest seen throughout the session showed just how much residents gained from spending time with Bill.
A big thank you goes to Bill and his handler, as well as Tavistock Therapy Goats, for helping to bring such a warm and memorable experience to The Manor House. Residents will certainly be looking forward to the next visit.
